In Criminal Conspiracy 2014 Degrees of Freedom
took over the Old Police Station in Deptford for two days on 27th
and 28th of June 2014 in collaboration with Cluster Bomb - a
contemporary performing artist collective, Poet John Gibbens, Vinyl Therapy -
low fi record spinning AKA Clive Shaw and Gregory Williams – abstract drawing.
The Cluster Bomb collective performed over two evenings with artists Emma Louvelle & Kerstin Möller (One Day I Was A Sparrow/The Day I Brew), Charlotte CHW (Here/Now), Alicia Radage, Elenor Hellis (Endoscopic Performance), Eliza Soroga (Voyeur). Vinyl Therapy AKA Clive Shaw was there with his low key, low fi record spinning as was Poet John Gribbens whose promenade performance included a police cell and the steps of the police station. Gregory Williams performed his unique abstract drawing at various places in the station. Degrees of Freedom had a series of site specific installations interrogating Britain’s very own security state. Ahmed Farooqui put the audience (and sometimes himself) in a cage within a cage to explore the elasticity of human rights in the security state; Graham Asker pondered two characters set a surveillance assignment who were in reality stalking each other; Rebecca Feiner’s work explored deaths at the hands of the police and the cycle of the police investigating the police; and Esperanza Gomez-Carrera placed a birthing chair with a leaping male figure at the centre of her work. |
